Café Nights in Art School

Rough and finished work from Seven Extraordinary Things. One of my inspirations was reading W. Sumerset Maugham’s Of Human Bondage where he detailed conversations by art students in Parisian cafes at turn of the last century.  They were identical to ones we had at Cal Arts in the mid-seventies, and I suspect those discussions (e.g. the nature of creativity, art vs. commerce, etc.) will continue for centuries to come.
